It is important to have a time-frame in your mind about how long you have to continue your current job depending on your salary because of two reasons.
One of the two reasons is you need some money upfront to start your own forest because you need to buy land for it if you don't have the plot already for it and few other minor monetary investments on sapling, fertilizers etc.
Second reason is forest takes time to become sustainable and start producing substantial monetary benefits and this time may vary from few months to decades depending on type of forest you've decided to own.
